Many veterans transition directly from military life to college or university, which can be a major life change. Adjusting to the new environment, culture, and experiences of campus life can be challenging for many, with some veterans facing additional difficulties related to physical or mental health or practical aspects of this transition. That's where the VITAL program comes in to offer support.

VITAL Program

The Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) program is dedicated to enhancing academic retention and success for veterans by providing:

  • On-campus clinical care and coordination
  • Educating and training the campus community to improve understanding of veterans' unique strengths and challenges
  • Collaboration with local VA medical centers, the Veterans Benefits Administration, faculty and staff, and community resources to ensure comprehensive support

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

Information Session

April 6, 2025 @ 11:00 am

This event is designed to connect our military veterans across generations. We invite our campus faculty veterans to connect with our student veterans and learn about what they're working on, accomplishing, and about ways to get involved.
Our student veterans will have the opportunity to learn from and connect with our faculty in an informal setting to learn about what they are a engaged with, and about the wider goings on in academia.

Food and drink will be served, along with some ice breaker games if so desired.

Our flagship event invites the entire campus community to join us in a meaningful and impactful tradition. We encourage everyone to come out and place flags on the Havener Lawn in honor of a veteran or service member who has made a difference in their life. This event creates a powerful visual representation, showcasing the significant impact that veterans and service members have on our lives.

Participation is free, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to commemorate and recognize the service and sacrifices of those who have served. We invite you to be a part of this heartfelt tribute and help us build a moving display of gratitude and respect.
